We finally tried it. Apparently this is a world famous hike and people from all over the world come to hike it.....Its not easy. I believe the total hike is 11 miles one way and can take 6 to 8 hours to just go one way to the end. We only did a 2 mile section.
The trail from the get go is up hill...and it looks like your walking in a creek bed, but it is the path. We got to the trail head early and were able to start before the crowds showed up.....and the did come.
So as we go up hill and it seems to never stop going up. I'm guessing that we start from sea level and go up hill until we reach 2000 feet. or so it seems. Along the way there are spots in which we were able to takein the breath taking views. The camera does not do them justice

This path is headed down and tropical it is.....So absolutely beautiful!!!

So for all you who will one day like to go to Kauai....Get yourself in shape to hike the Kalalau Trail. We saw a guy running it ....a pregnant woman walking it, and a father carrying his young daughter up the hill. People of all ages tryinh this trail
