Up up and away!

For those of you who have seen the blog from last May's trip, you will remember that I had a segment with Bill and Jim. Well, introducing my new Jim! This one is much better than an action figure, even if he doesn't look like one.
Good grief, I look like motorcycle mamma! This was a totally cool, awesome experience. I would highly recommend it to those visiting the island. Start saving Nature Boy, you're going up next time!

W
We're strapped in and already to go. It doesn't take much and you're off the ground. It goes very up. Even before I got my wings on we're looking down at a pod of whales swimming around on the surface. (I'll have to see if I can get the pictures off the CD) We circled around the whales, headed inland, over Wiamea and up the canyon. We flew over the sugar cane fields where they were busy harvesting the sugar, up the Wiamea Canyon, saw the very windy road that we drove up. Flew over the look outs that we stopped at and and the waterfalls. At the end of the canyon we took a left over to the Napali Coast. Talk about beautiful. This is the point that I have to admit, even though it was beautiful I fed the fish, woofed my cookies and the just plain barfed!!!! Now, we are not talking three different word to describe one vent. I threw up over the Napali Coast, in the big crater in the center of the island (I held it in when we were over the Taro Fields...that would have been gross!) and then one last time as we were taking a right to land. You lift up the face mask, move the microphone to the left and barf right. Wow, barfing at 70 mph was a new experience!
Back to the flight. The Napali Coast up close was breathtaking. The cliffs were green, the rolling waves were fantastic colors. We went all the way up to Ke'e Beach, down to Tunnels, past the beach where they filmed South Pacific, into Hanalei. Over Princeville and the took a right and went up the canyon to the wettest area in the world. The Taro fields were wet and there were lots of waterfalls in the canyon. We headed out to the Tunnel of Trees, Pi'ipu on the left, turned right over Spouting Horn with Port Allen ahead. We flew higher than the birds. It's pretty darned cool to look down and see birds gliding around. There was a whale having a great time flapping his tail on the ocean. One last barf and I was back on the ground.
That was spectacular, I'd definitely do it again.

So long, it's been good to know ya...

Final words of Lisette Meynders...We're heading out, and I'm heading up! You know that airplane thingie that's attached to a lawn mower...yup, that's me. I'm heading up in an ultralight thingie this morning...rememeber me in your prayers!

The Napali Coast Hike

We finally tried it. Apparently this is a world famous hike and people from all over the world come to hike it.....Its not easy. I believe the total hike is 11 miles one way and can take 6 to 8 hours to just go one way to the end. We only did a 2 mile section. The trail from the get go is up hill...and it looks like your walking in a creek bed, but it is the path. We got to the trail head early and were able to start before the crowds showed up.....and the did come.

So as we go up hill and it seems to never stop going up. I'm guessing that we start from sea level and go up hill until we reach 2000 feet. or so it seems. Along the way there are spots in which we were able to takein the breath taking views. The camera does not do them justice

Pointing to the Napali coast, we can finally see it and WOW

This path is headed down and tropical it is.....So absolutely beautiful!!!

Here is our reward.... Looks like Toyke had another workout.

Lisette so nice and fresh....but what a sight....

So for all you who will one day like to go to Kauai....Get yourself in shape to hike the Kalalau Trail. We saw a guy running it ....a pregnant woman walking it, and a father carrying his young daughter up the hill. People of all ages tryinh this trail

Well worth it.

Perfect Day - Perfect Night

The sun has gone down and the full moon is out in the cloudless sky. This is romatic even if you aren't...you just can't help it. This is our view as we had our steak and salad out on the balcony.
This one is for you, Mark Pugmire. It's taken through the binoculars! It didn't work well because with the binoculars you can see the craters on the moon!

A DAY BY THE POOL

Today looked to be such a nice day that we decided it would be a pool day. So we grabbed our books and towels and headed for the pool.

Not a cloud in the sky for the majority of the day. And the clouds that did come by, flew on past.

And what better thing to have come by then a Cruise Ship. First one we have seen this trip. We have seen almost everything one would expect to on a trip, so why not include a cruise ship
Another Picture perfect day here!!!
