Wiathehell didn't we take the motorboat!

Naa! It was the Wailua River Kayak Tour and it was fun! This is Toyke and RJ unloading the kayaks. There were 10 of us plus the guide and it was well worth it. We've seen people of the river before but haven't kayaked ourselves.

And here I am, leaning against it...works for me! I found that the hardest part for me was keeping up with Toyke's paddling. Many times I found my paddle hitting the river slower than the kayak was going...It's good to have that upper body strength guy in your kayak.

We paddles for about an hour and then got out and hiked for about the same amount of time. It was densely treed and a good hike. We had to cross the river at waist height once which made it interesting. The end was well worth it though. Secret Falls was a nice refreshing water fall to stop and have lunch at. Of course, we had to hike back then hour and then kayak out. Toyke got a burst of energy at the very end and paddled like a paddling fool, I swear I could have wake boarded...if I just had a board to do it with! It was a great adventure, would highly recommend it.

I think that there's something wrong with Toyke's feet! Besides being so tanned one is bigger than the other, maybe one shrunk in the pool...

Father know how to ride a bike! We signed up for Kayak Wialua River tour tomorrow morning and the guy threw in a free bike rental for this afternoon! We rode out about 3 miles to where the sidewalk ends. Of course, we had to stop for an ice cream at Beezers on the way back! No banana split this time thought, he had 1/2 of a "saddle shoe sundae" and I order a 1/4 size so we didn't do too bad.


Look, he's actually sweating! He was looking for Stephanie because he knows how much she loves those sweattie hugs!!

The sky is overcast, winds are from the Southeast which is blowing up "vog" which is volcanic fog from the big island. One guy said that Honolulu and Maui would be really bad since they are closer.

Lisettes 50th Birthday while in Hawaii

Lisette walks and jogs each morning....How could we not as the weather here is so nice. Its 9 AM and its already 80 degrees

Yes and there I am in my exercise clothes....out for our morning walk.

I am now married to an old lady. Today Lisette turns 50. She was so excited she drug me out of bed to watch the sunrise. We are at the condo in Kapaa, Kauai' Its before 6 AM

Here Lisette has victory, she has made it and life has been good. Hmm....what will she do in the next 50 years......watch and see

Time with Leoni

Dave, Leoni's best friend, treated us to dinner at Dukes...wish he could have been there to enjoy the Pina Coladas too!

On May 1st Toyke and I went to Kauai and we invited Leoni to come with us. She wasn't scheduled to go back to Holland until May 21st. We were able to book her on the same flight over and she stayed with us until May 9th, taking the night flight home. While she was with us we toured different areas of the island and took the Na Poli Coast boat trip. Toyke and I have taken the trip 3 previous times and have enjoyed it. This time...Toyke and Leoni enjoyed it. Sea sickness hit me while heading out and just after this picture was taken I had to head to the back of the boat and stay there for the duration. I couldn't move, look at any scenery and definitely not eat! It was a great trip for them, they saw dolphins, turtles, mountain goats, flying fish, monk seals and even a few whales! The whales not only spouted but showed off their tails and did a whole body breach...wish I could have seen it too!

We made it back from Mexico in time. Time to spend with Toni, Dad, Opa. When we left him he was able to be by himself overnight but that ended while we were gone. Aunt Leoni arrived before scheduled and it was great for her to be able to spend some time with Toni and for us to visit with her.

He died on April 14th at 3 p.m. with Leoni, Toyke, Patrick, Odette & Keith Jr by his side. He had battled lung cancer for a year and a half. He turned 80 on April 11th.

As he wished, his body was donated to science. He is now in the University of British Columbia Medical Research Program.

The Eventful Year

Puerta Vallarta - It seems like such a long time ago! Nope, we're not in the picture but Toyke took the picture, it was by our room and we went with Jack & Liz Randall. Liz's Mom had lung cancer also so a lot of this trip was spent worrying about her and Toyke's Dad. We've been on many trips with Jack and Liz and this one was wonderful also.
